CHEGA wins among foreign voters

Its tally rose to 50, after winning two additional seats in Europe and overseas, while the PS and the AD only elected one MP each.

CHEGA emerged as the big winner among Portuguese voters abroad, winning 18.30% of the vote (61,039 votes) and adding two more deputies to the 48 already conquered, one in the European constituency and the other in the Outside Europe constituency.

The AD came in second with 16.79% (55,986 votes) and elected only one deputy in the  Outside Europe constituency.

The PS ended up in third place, with 15.73% (52,471 votes) and elected only one deputy in the Europe constituency.

The fourth most voted party was the Bloco de Esquerda, but at a long distance from the top three: it obtained only 2.48% (8,285 votes). The current President of the National Assembly, Augusto Santos Silva, lost his seat in the Outside Europe constituency, a symbolic defeat for the PS in these elections.

Altogether, 333,520 emigrants voted, the highest turnout ever, but 122,327 votes were invalidated, representing 36.68% null votes.
