44-year-old Rodrigo Castelo, head chef at Ó Balcão restaurant in Santarém, won Boa Cama Boa Mesa Guide's Chef of the Year award.
This year, Ó Balcão was also recognised with its first Michelin Star and a Green Star.
The four finalists for the Chef of the Year 2024 award also included Henrique Sá Pessoa (winner in 2022 and Golden Fork winner, with the Alma restaurant), João Rodrigues (Canalha restaurant) and Vítor Matos (Silver Fork winner with the Antiqvvm restaurant).
Another great novelty in the Boa Cama Boa Mesa Guide 2024 is the awarding of the Sustainability Prize to 20 restaurants and accommodations that stand out for their integrated approach to sustainability, whether it's the environmental aspect or their work in social responsibility and community development. The Revelation 2024 hotel and accommodation were also honoured, respectively The Reserve, in Funchal, and the Canalha restaurant, in Lisbon.
